Mixed berry compote and sun-dried herbs emanate from the 2022 FORTIS, reminiscent of country kitchen aromas. Blackberry juice joins thyme, black olive, and roasted meat before giving way to fresh earthen and rocky elements like dusty slate and petrichor. The lush tannin on the front end of the palate is further softened by comforting notes of cinnamon, baking spice and vanilla buttercream. A juicy intro swells into a round midpalate, all woven together by a taught and lasting acidity. Red fruit notes like cranberry sauce and raspberry coulis only add to the approachable nature of the wine, which is then buttressed by an unctuous and lively finish. We suggest serving it with Bouillabaisse that is sopped up by hand ripped hunks of a Rosemary-Meyer Lemon boule from Della Fattoria.
