NAPA VALLEY CABERNET SAUVIGNON

From our estate vineyards throughout five different appellations—Stags Leap District, Howell Mountain, Oakville, Rutherford, and Carneros—we produce a Cabernet Sauvignon that expresses the ultimate essence of Napa Valley.

Our vineyard team pays meticulous attention to detail, making sure that every decision encourages the personality of each winegrowing site to come through. Then our winemaker blends from this diverse palette of terroir expression to come up with a classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with hallmark bright, ripe fruit and a substantial mouthfeel.

Since our founding in 1978, we have proudly produced appellation Cabernet Sauvignons that showcase the unique character of the American Viticultural Areas (AVAs) and our estate vineyards within them. This Cabernet Sauvignon, however, was crafted to embody the ultimate essence of Napa Valley, sourced from multiple appellations throughout this world-famous growing region.

VINEYARDS The fruit for this vintage was chosen from our premier estate vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley, mainly the Stags Leap District, Oakville, and Rutherford AVAs. The bright, ripe fruit and substantial mouthfeel that characterize this complex bottling are a direct result of the meticulous care and attention to detail that our vineyard workers pay to the vines.

HARVEST AND WINEMAKING The fruit for this wine was harvested at an optimal level of ripeness in mid- to late October. The berries were hand harvested at night and carefully sorted and destemmed to tank, where fermentation took place. Then the wine was racked to 40 percent new American oak barrels, where it was aged for 16-18 months prior to bottling.

TASTING NOTES Ruby red in color, this wine opens with alluring aromas of fresh black raspberry, boysenberry, and ripe red plum, with hints of red licorice, fragrant cinnamon, and vanilla crème brûlée. Enchanting and luscious, the palate opens with dark, ripe cherry and juicy blackberry that join with suggestions of white pepper, fresh mint leaf, and berry cola. The complex array of flavors lasts through the long finish, supported by polished tannins and integrated oak.

PAIRING  Expressive and elegant, this exceptionally food-friendly wine will pair delightfully with a variety of dishes, such as grilled skirt steak with salsa verde, pappardelle with rabbit ragout, and Turkish-style lamb meatballs. For a memorable cheese course, try pairing it with Cantal, a semi-hard cow’s-milk cheese from the Rhône region of France.
