Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
An ample bouquet that highlights aromas of sweet black raspberry, blueberry pie and cherry cordial amongst wisps of anise, lavender and toasted vanilla leaps from this deep ruby-black wine in the glass. Bright and voluminous, the palate opens with fruit flavors of red cherry preserves, cassis and raspberry cream that give way to hints of spearmint, rich caramel and velvety dark chocolate. Silky, supple tannins and bright acidity provide structure and balance throughout the long finish.
Vineyard Notes
The world-famous Rutherford AVA is home to two of our estate vineyards, Rutherford Ridge and Manley Lane, totaling 54 acres from which the fruit for this bottling was sourced. Situated on the valley floor with fine loam soil and moderate temperatures, this region is renowned for historically producing some of the Napa Valley’s finest and most fruit-forward Cabernet Sauvignon.
Production Notes
2013 was an ideal season in Napa Valley, with dry conditions and a long, sunny summer, allowing even ripening and yielding exquisite, balanced fruit. The fruit for this wine was harvested at an optimal level of ripeness in mid-October. The berries were hand-harvested at night, carefully sorted and destemmed to tank, where fermentation took place. Then, the wine was racked to 60% new French oak barrels, where it was aged for 18 months prior to bottling.
